Stack Social has some great deals on certified apple accessories and applications.  Other deal places (Deal Genius, Daily Steals, etc) often also have good deals but these places often sell Chinese knockoff accessories, so just beware.  Stack Social is a good place to start for deals on genuine certified hardware and software.  You can help support MacHelper by clicking on the links in this post when you sign up!

iPhone sale at Best Buy stores through Sun 11 May

— CORRECTION:  the sale goes until Sunday May 11, evidently —

Best Buy is running a promotion on iPhones in their stores, and it looks like, online as well.

These promos look to be only on iPhones activated on Verizon and Sprint networks, with 2 year contracts. They seem to be offering the iPhone 5s for a $100 discount as compared to regular prices, and the iPhone 5c at a $50 discount. Check physical Best Buy stores in case they are offering other options as well.

Do remember that Apple and certified retailers are putting these phones on sale ahead of the launch of the new and improved iPhone 6, which we expect will be released in late Summer 2014. This will be a larger phone with a larger display, thinner, and faster. If you can wait to upgrade, we would suggest you consider waiting!

Promos for iPhone 5s online:

  • iPhone 5s 16GB on Verizon or Sprint is advertised now for $99 (as opposed to full price at $199)
  • iPhone 5s 32GB on Verizon or Sprint is advertised now for $199 (as opposed to full price at $299)
  • iPhone 5s 64GB on Verizon or Sprint is advertised now for $299 (as opposed to full price at $399)

Promos for iPhone 5c:

  • iPhone 5s 16GB on Verizon or Sprint is advertised now for $49 (as opposed to full price at $99)
  • iPhone 5s 32GB on Verizon or Sprint is advertised now for $149 (as opposed to full price at $199)

OWC Value Line Slim Optical Drive

OWC Value Line Slim Optical Drive

There is another unit on sale at OWC that will burn BlueRay disks for $95 (down from $129). These are compatible with all macs, as opposed to the old SuperDrives from Apple that worked only with MacBook Airs or MacBook Pros respectively.

Apple’s new USB SuperDrive costs $79 and supports all recent machines out of the box (though it seems there may be work-arounds so it will work with other machines as well). The official documentation states that the Apple USB SuperDrive is compatible with the following machines:  MacBook Pro with Retina display, MacBook Air, iMac (late 2012), Mac mini (late 2009) and later.
